Founder of Waterbox LLC

Steve Weymer’s journey into the specialty beverage industry began with a deep curiosity about innovation and a desire to make a meaningful impact. He earned dual degrees, a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts, from the University of California, where he gained both analytical and creative skills. To strengthen his understanding of leadership and business strategy, he later pursued an MBA from the Locke School at the University of Colorado. These academic experiences laid the foundation for his career, providing him with the knowledge and perspective necessary to navigate a rapidly changing industry with confidence and purpose.

Learning Through Experience and Leadership

Early in his career, Steve found his place in the specialty beverage sector, a growing field driven by consumer interest in health, quality, and sustainability. He worked across all major areas of the industry, including production, operations, marketing, and distribution. His hands-on approach quickly became one of his greatest strengths. Rather than managing from afar, Steve immersed himself in the details of product formulation, quality control, and logistics. Over the years, this commitment to direct involvement helped him become a trusted advisor and mentor to beverage companies across the United States and Europe. He has guided more than 45 businesses in developing and marketing natural and organic functional beverages, helping them bring better-for-you products to consumers. His leadership is grounded in patience, precision, and practical experience, qualities that continue to shape his approach today.

The Creation of WaterBox LLC

Motivated by the environmental challenges posed by plastic waste, Steve Weymer founded WaterBox LLC in Columbus, Georgia. His vision was to create an environmentally responsible beverage company that could offer sustainable alternatives to traditional bottled water. WaterBox’s products are packaged in innovative liquid paperboard cartons, primarily made from pressed paper with minimal recyclable plastic components. This design significantly reduces energy use and material waste while delivering a product that meets modern environmental and consumer standards.WaterBox’s operations are strategically distributed across the country, with facilities in Northern California, Southwest Utah, Northwest Georgia, and central Pennsylvania. Each location sources water from nearby mountain springs, thereby reducing transportation distances and carbon emissions. The company’s transparent labeling also ensures that consumers can trace each product back to its regional source, reinforcing accountability and trust.

Innovation that Supports Sustainability

At the heart of Steve’s work is a constant pursuit of innovation. He holds pending patents in beverage hydration and packaging technology, which aim to improve product quality while minimizing environmental impact. These innovations have enabled WaterBox to remain at the forefront of sustainable beverage solutions, striking a balance between functionality and ecological responsibility. Steve’s approach to research and development reflects his belief that progress should never come at the expense of the planet. Through the use of new materials, efficient production methods, and localized sourcing, WaterBox continues to lead by example in the shift toward more sustainable consumer goods.

Leadership Rooted in Integrity

He is recognized as a leading formulator of natural and organic beverages, with products sold in top natural food retailers, including Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Sprouts, Sunflower, and Jimbo’s. His leadership style is marked by humility and collaboration, valuing teamwork over hierarchy. He remains deeply involved in WaterBox’s operations, ensuring that each decision aligns with the company’s values of transparency, quality, and sustainability. His ability to connect strategy with execution has allowed WaterBox to grow responsibly while maintaining its core mission. Colleagues often describe Steve as a leader who builds trust through example and inspires others to pursue meaningful work that contributes to long-term environmental progress.

Giving Back to People and the Planet

In addition to his business endeavors, he is an advocate for environmental protection and community service. He is an active member of the Surfrider Foundation, supporting efforts to preserve coastlines and reduce plastic pollution in oceans. His advocacy for sustainability has led him to speak at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, where he discussed the importance of eco-conscious packaging and the future of responsible business practices. Steve’s dedication extends to charitable organizations such as Catholic Charities, Wounded Warriors, and Towers to Tunnels, where he supports causes that serve families, veterans, and communities in need. His philosophy is simple: lead with integrity, give back when possible, and always prioritize doing what’s right over what’s easy.
